Introduction to Microneedling
Youthful, glowing skin, let’s face it, we all desire it. Today you’ll find endless advertisements preaching the latest and greatest when it comes to turning back the clock on the appearance of our skin, especially on your face. With all the noise, it’s hard to determine what works and what doesn’t. At Aesthetics MedSpa, we specialize in only the best procedures, and perhaps one of the most popular and efficient procedures in the quest for coveted skin; Microneedling. There is a reason Microneedling is the talk of the town in the skincare world, it makes your skin glow after just one treatment and continues to boost the appearance of your complexion for months afterward. Microneedling is touted as a multi-purpose treatment because it improves several cosmetic issues, and with it, the benefits stack up, and results speak for themselves.
What is Microneedling?
Microneedling involves rolling a wand or pen affixed with mini-needles to create tiny wounds on a target area. These wounds are minuscule and only skin-deep. The micro-damage helps stimulate your skin’s healing process, as it then produces more collagen and elastin in the area where the microneedles were used. The amazing proteins that arise boost skin strength, radiance, and health. The mechanisms also stimulate your body to produce new skin cells, improving wrinkles, crow’s feet, and forehead lines. Most of our patients at Aesthetics MedSpa receive Microneedling on their face, but it can be treated on the legs, back, neck, or other areas where you notice damaged, worn, or aging skin.
What are the Benefits of Microneedling?
There are incredible results when it comes to Micro needling for anyone seeking younger-looking skin. Most of our patients in Lansing find benefits that include the following:
Who are the Best Candidates for Microneedling?
Microneedling is very safe for men and women and works on a variety of skin tones. The treatment doesn’t carry the risk of skin discoloration, unlike some facial rejuvenation procedures that use heat or lasers. The best candidates for Microneedling in Lansing, MI, are ones with realistic expectations of what the treatment can do for them. If you find yourself seeking to improve your facial skin or experiencing any of the issues below, you may be the perfect candidate for this treatment.
What’s the First Step?
The first step in getting Microneeling in Lansing, MI, is to contact Aesthetics MedSpa to schedule a consultation with Dr. Arthur Ronan or a member of our aesthetic team. When you come in for this appointment, we will discuss what you are trying to achieve, try to get a better understanding of what your skincare routine currently looks like, and give you a thorough evaluation of your skin. Once the consultation is complete, we can start your microneedling right away, or you can schedule a better day and time with our Patient Coordinator.
What to Expect on the Day of Microneedling
Our team will likely start your microneedling treatment by applying a topical anesthetic. This helps numb the area and eliminate any pain. It’s important to remember at Aesthetics MedSpa, your comfort is our own; we don’t cut corners when it comes to making your experience as relaxing as possible. At the time that your face or target area is ready, we will then use a tool that contains tiny needles known as a derma pen or derma-roller (which device used will depend on the patient’s needs). We will run the tool evenly across your skin to create tiny holes in the stratum corneum, which is the outermost layer of the skin. Patients have described the sensation as a warm, light scratch as the roller or pen is moved around their faces. The entire process takes roughly 10 to 30 minutes and, when completed, creates a layer of fresh, smoother-looking skin to reduce scars, wrinkles, and blemishes.
When you are finished, we may apply saline pads or a gel face mask, depending on the size of the area treated. You may notice some redness and some minor skin irritation for 2 to 3 days after the treatment; this is generally normal and should regulate in the days following your appointment. We recommend the following recovery tips to achieve the most successful results:
- Use topical creams and lotions to keep your skin soft and moisturized; our Aesthetics MedSpa team will provide you with the necessary resources for post-care products.
- Avoid washing your face with anything other than lukewarm water and gentle cleanser for 48 hours
- Don’t apply makeup for 48 to 72 hours after the procedure.
- Avoid direct sunlight for 48 to 72 hours after the procedure. Don’t forget to SPF if you’re in the sunlight!
How Much Does Microneedling Cost in Lansing, MI?
The best way to learn how much your treatment will cost is to come in for your consultation and meet with Dr. Ronan or a member of our aesthetics team. After we have a better understanding of what your needs are for microneedling, our Patient Coordinator will be able to give you a breakdown of the pricing for the procedure and schedule any future appointments.

“ I have been seeing Dr. Ronan for Botox for migraines for years. Due to my Moyamoya disease nothing takes my pain away completely but the injections do help. He is great, and his staff is very nice. He is also my husband’s general practitioner. He is a wonderful doctor and a very nice person.”
