Introduction to Laser Hair Removal
Hair follicles are important for certain areas of your body. For example, hair on your head keeps your head warm and provides cushioning to your skull, your eyebrows protect your eyes from moisture and light, and your body hair — well, it was originally meant to keep your body warm, but nowadays, seems to have less importance with clothing and centralized heat. Body hair often gets a mixed reaction, and while some people aren’t bothered by it, others go through painstaking processes to get rid of it! If you’re one of those that would rather not have hair in certain areas, you can now take hair removal to the next level! Aesthetics Med Spa offers Laser Hair Removal to our Lansing, MI patients that is faster, safer, and more comfortable than traditional treatments.
What is Laser Hair Removal?
Laser Hair Removal is a non-invasive way to get rid of unwanted hair, and at Aesthetics Med Spa, we use the Forever Bare™ BBL from Sciton. Unlike traditional hair reduction devices that apply energy one pulse at a time, Forever Bare BBL uses motion technology to deliver a low fluence (a measure of energy delivered per unit area) in multiple pulses, protecting the skin while progressively raising the follicle temperature to the optimal level for hair removal. Re-engineered cooling enables constant motion treatments without allowing its crystal temperature to fluctuate, which ends up producing better, more consistent results.

What’s the First Step?
The first step in getting Laser Hair Removal in Lansing, MI is to schedule a consultation at Aesthetics Med Spa. When you come in for your appointment, you will meet with either Dr. Ronan or a certified laser technician from our Aesthetics team. The area you’re looking to have the hair removed from will be examined and you will be able to ask any questions you may have about the treatment. After everything is discussed, a treatment plan will be created for you and if you agree with it, you will be able to have your first laser treatment performed. In some cases, we may have you wait for better circumstances before getting the treatment. If this is the case, our Patient Coordinator will be able to help you schedule the right day and time that works best for you.
If you would like to get your Laser Hair Removal performed sooner than later, we strongly recommend avoiding any tanning or sun for at least six weeks before your treatment. The laser targets the hair follicle, so the greater the contrast between your hair and your skin, the better the results. It will also be recommended that you shave the day before your treatment so that the laser will be able to treat the root of the follicle easier.
What to Expect on the Day of Laser Hair Removal
When it’s time for your Laser Hair Removal treatment, we will have you come into our Medical Spa and make yourself comfortable. The technician will begin by applying a clear cooling gel to your skin to make your experience a little more comfortable and you will be provided with some protective eyewear. Next, the handheld device will be dialed in so that the laser will be at an appropriate power level, and the technician will focus the beam of light on the follicles. You will hear a pop or crack-like sound with each pulse as it emits and it will feel like a rubber band snap. Many patients may find their first session to be the most painful as this is when the most amount of hair is removed at a single time. Additional sessions will often be performed at a higher power level, but there will also be fewer follicles to focus on, so the treatments should go quicker.
*The treatment can take anywhere from a few minutes up to an hour depending on how much hair is being treated.
Laser Hair Removal Recovery
After your treatment, you will be able to go about your day, but you will need to do your best to protect your skin from any direct sunlight. Your skin will also be reddened and slightly swollen after your treatment, and you may experience a mild level of pain for an hour or so you can use an ice pack to alleviate these post-treatment feelings. Your hair grows in different phases, so you will need to return for more sessions to eliminate the follicles from the area. On average, it takes about eight sessions spaced apart every four to six weeks.
How Much Does Laser Hair Removal Cost in Lansing, MI?
The cost of Laser Hair Removal in Lansing is based on several different factors, including the number of sessions you need and the surface area of the hair being removed. After coming in for your consultation and your customized treatment plan is made, our Patient Coordinator will be able to give you a breakdown of the entire cost of your treatment.

“ I have been seeing Dr. Ronan for Botox for migraines for years. Due to my Moyamoya disease nothing takes my pain away completely but the injections do help. He is great, and his staff is very nice. He is also my husband’s general practitioner. He is a wonderful doctor and a very nice person.”
