What’s the First Step?
The first step in getting BBL therapy in Lansing is to contact Aesthetics MedSpa and schedule your consultation. During this appointment, you will get the opportunity to meet with either Dr. Ronan or a friendly and qualified member of our Aesthetics team. As you meet, you will be able to express your aesthetic desires and goals, have your skin examined, and answer some questions regarding your medical history. When discussing this portion, please be open and honest. We are completely discreet and confidential and are only asking you these questions to ensure you have a safe treatment and recovery. Once all of this information is collected, a treatment plan will be made for you and if you agree with it, you will speak with our Patient Coordinator to schedule your first BBL session.

What to Expect on the Day of BBL (Broadband Light)
When you come in for your BBL therapy, we will begin by providing you with some protective eyewear to shield your eyes from the light. We will then apply a topical numbing cream to provide you with a more comfortable experience. The technician will turn the machine on and adjust the power level to give you the best treatment without causing any discomfort. Most patients don’t find the treatment to be painful, but they do feel a slightly warm sensation accompanied by a “rubber band snap”, which is caused by the light being absorbed by the treatment areas. At the end of your treatment, you will be offered an ice pack to help reduce swelling or bruising, and we will apply a soothing topical lotion to the treatment site.

BBL (Broadband Light) Recovery
After your treatment, you can return to your normal activities but be sure to wear quality sunscreen when outside as your skin will be sensitive to UV rays. You can expect some redness, but it will resolve in a few hours. You will also notice pigmented lesions develop that will darken at first before gradually flaking off and then fading over the next 7 – 10 days.
Your results can differ from another patient’s depending on skin condition, the number of sessions received, and the area being treated, but you will notice that your skin feels smoother, fine lines and pores are reduced, and sun spots or uneven pigmentation will fade after about a week.
