Rosacea and Redness

Rosacea is a chronic inflammatory skin disorder typically involving the nose, cheeks, forehead, and chin that is characterized especially by redness, flushing, visible blood vessels, inflamed lesions, burning sensation, and sometimes eye dryness and irritation, and thickening of tissues especially of the nose.

Not sure if you have Rosacea or not? You’re not alone, not all facial redness is caused by Rosacea. There are many factors that can determine why our skin develops inflammation and redness. Outdoor elements, diet, skincare regimens, allergies, and genetics to name a few. Below, we’ve included treatments to address Rosacea and redness:

Hyperpigmentation and Melasma

Hyperpigmentation is a common skin condition where excess melanin forms deposits in the skin, causing dark spots.

Melasma is also a common skin problem that causes brown patches on the face.  Sometimes referred to as the “pregnancy mask”  because it can affect women of all ages and is known to be hormone and/or heat-induced. Below, we’ve included popular treatments to treat both hyperpigmentation and Melasma:

Milia

These are small white/yellow “pearl-like” bumps that are typically found on the forehead, lips, eyelids, and cheeks. These tend to form when tiny skin flakes become trapped in small pockets near the surface of the skin, they are commonly referred to as “baby acne”. Below, we’ve included popular treatments to treat Milia.

Dullness and Texture

There are many reasons why our skin can lose its radiance, such as the accumulation of dead skin cells, dehydration, and environmental factors.  These conditions can cause our skin to appear uneven, sallow, and rough. Rest assured, we have multiple treatment options for you to choose from. During a consultation, we’ll be able to provide our expert recommendations.

Aging and Wrinkles

As we age, our skin naturally slows the production of collagen, elastin, and hyaluronic acid.  Collagen gives our skin firmness, elastin allows your skin to bounce back and hyaluronic acid helps your skin retain moisture. As one of the leading medical spas in Lansing, we’ve seen thousands of patients for anti-aging solutions and have an array of services to offer:

Acne and Scarring

Acne is a skin condition that can affect all ages and all skin types.  There are many components that contribute to the cause of acne, such as excess oil production, free radicals, and dead skin cell build-up.

Acne Scarring can present itself in many different ways.  Indentations, textural changes, and pigmentation are all common indications of damaged skin. Below, we’ve included treatments that can help rid the skin of pesky scars and acne:

Under Eye Bags and Dark Circles

As we age our skin becomes thinner, we lose fat and collagen, and the tissues and muscles that surround the eye become weaker.  This aging process can cause the appearance of dark circles, as the dark blood vessels under your eyes become more visible with thinner skin. The loss of fat, collagen, and muscle tone can cause the skin to sag and fluid can build up, giving the appearance of under-eye bags. We offer effective solutions to create a more rested and youthful appearance:

Unwanted Body & Facial Hair

Hair covers every inch of the human body, whether it’s peach fuzz or thick coarse follicles, we all have it. But that doesn’t mean we all WANT to have it, there are many options for all skin and hair types.

Sagging Skin

There are several reasons why our skin starts to sag but the main culprit to sagging skin is the loss or damage to collagen and elastin, which are the foundations of skin structure for firmness and tightness.  The abdomen, knees, arms, or other body areas can be affected, some areas more significantly than others.

Key factors that cause the loss or damage to collagen and elastin:

  • Aging
  • Sun exposure
  • Shifts in weight from weight loss or the birth of a child

Our treatments include:

Stretch Marks and Scars

Stretch marks are a type of scarring on the skin that occurs when the skin is stretched beyond normal limits, causing tears within the dermis. They can occur in multiple areas of the body, such as the lower back, stomach, thighs, arms, breasts, and butt. Common causes of stretch marks are growth spurts in childhood, sudden weight gain, and pregnancy.  Stretch marks are able to fade slowly over time with exercise, diet, and hydration, but it is not guaranteed.

Scars to the body can occur from acne or when there is trauma to the skin through a deep wound.  When the skin repairs itself it lays down collagen fibers and oftentimes it is different from the surrounding tissues.  A scar can be flat and pale or raised, called a keloid.

We have several procedures to help minimize the appearance of stretch marks and scarring:

Sun Damage

Sunspots, wrinkles, broken vessels, and reduced skin tone and texture are all signs of sun damage.  Repeated exposure to ultraviolet rays breaks down the skin barrier along with collagen and elastin, resulting in skin looking older and can start to be visible as early as in your 20s!

Actinic Keratosis is also a skin condition caused by sun exposure.  It can start as a small pimple and turn into a rough scaly patch of skin that can be pink, yellow, or brownish in tint.

It’s not too late to reverse the signs of sun damage.  We offer laser treatments, skin rejuvenation, peels, and medical-grade products to reverse the signs of sun damage:

Keratosis Pilaris

A condition that usually causes rough patches and small, acne-like bumps on the skin. This tends to develop when the skin produces too much of the protein called keratin, which can block hair follicles and cause bumps to develop. Sometimes referred to as “chicken skin”, keratosis pillars present themselves on the arms, thighs, cheeks, and buttocks. These white and sometimes red bumps can appear to be rash-like but tend not to hurt or itch. Lack of exfoliation or treatments can prolong the lifespan of this condition.

Unwanted Body Fat

Certain fat may never go away, no matter how much you diet and exercise. Some people are genetically predisposed to fat accumulation in specific, pesky areas.   We have two treatment options to get rid of unwanted fat:
